Our understanding of
oxidative stress and infection in cancer patients has
advanced notably over the last 15 years. The conference has
engaged a faculty of experienced and qualified speakers to
offer an up-to-date panorama of advances and open questions
relating to oxidative stress and infection in the
oncological setting.
By reviewing the literature and recounting personal
experience in the context in the main conference topics, the
speakers will provide not just a theorical overview but also
practical indications for identifying problems due to
oxidative stress and recurrent infections in cancer patients.
A parallel aim of the Conference is to examine the safety
and standardization of plant medicinal products and provide
an overview of the chemiotherapeutic agents of plant origin
useful in cancer patients.
Approaches to the treatment of chronic infection that go
beyond the use of antibiotics and instead work in concert
with the patient's immune system, will also be examined.
Finally, aspects of the dietary prevention of cancer and
degenerative diseases in general will be discussed with
particular reference to the control of oxidative stress.
Participants will come
away from the Conference with knowledge and skills that will
help them to improve relations with their patients, and
contribute positively to the slow processes of humanizing
medicine and containing the costs of treatments.
